11 Killed in Maharashtra’s Thane Highway Horror as Van Collides with Cement Mixer

Maharashtra: 11 Killed in Thane Highway Collision

A horrific road accident in Maharashtra’s Thane district claimed 11 lives on Monday after a van collided head-on with a cement mixer on the Kalyan–Murbad National Highway 61 near Govili village in Murbad.

The accident took place around 11:30 am on the Raita Bridge when the two vehicles coming from opposite directions crashed with tremendous impact. Five people died on the spot, while several others later succumbed to their injuries in hospital.

Locals rushed to the scene immediately after the crash and assisted in rescue operations before emergency services arrived. Several injured victims remain in critical condition and are undergoing treatment at nearby hospitals.

Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the cause of the accident.

Gujarat: 7 Pilgrims Killed in Speeding Truck Crash

In a separate incident in Gujarat’s Surendranagar district, seven people lost their lives after being hit by a speeding truck on the Lakhtar–Viramgam highway during early morning hours.

The accident occurred around 1:30 am near Bhaskarpara village in Lakhtar taluka when pilgrims walking towards Bahucharaji were struck from behind by a truck moving at high speed.

Officials said six pilgrims and one dumper driver who was near a parked vehicle were killed in the incident. Four of the deceased were women.

The truck driver fled the scene after the accident, and a search operation has been launched to trace him.

The pilgrims had reportedly started their journey on foot from Rajkot to offer prayers at a temple in Bahucharaji when the tragedy occurred.
