Handwara: Under the Civic Action Programme (CAP) 2025–2026, Handwara Police on Wednesday organized a Knock-Out Cricket Tournament at the Bungas Cricket Stadium Ground in Kutlari Mawar. The initiative aims to promote sportsmanship, encourage youth participation, and strengthen police–public relations through positive community engagement.
The tournament was inaugurated by SSP Handwara, Shri Sahil Sarangal (IPS), in the presence of senior police officers, local dignitaries, and a large gathering of enthusiastic spectators.
The opening match was played between United Sports Jahama and Victory Vipers Mawar, drawing an energetic response from local cricket fans. A total of 12 teams from Mawar and its adjoining areas are participating in the tournament, which is being conducted in a knock-out format to ensure competitive and entertaining matches.
Officials announced that the winners and runners-up will receive trophies and cash prizes in recognition of their performance and sportsmanship.
Speaking on the occasion, SSP Handwara emphasized the importance of such initiatives in channelizing the energy of youth in a positive direction while fostering unity, discipline, and healthy competition. He reiterated that Handwara Police will continue to organize community-oriented programmes under CAP to promote harmony and support youth development.
