Handwara: Members of Civil Society Handwara on Wednesday staged a silent protest at Chogal Handwara, expressing serious concern over the stalled construction work of Government Medical College (GMC) Handwara.
The protesters said the project has remained halted since last year, causing significant delays in the development of a crucial healthcare facility for the region. They noted that the prolonged suspension is adversely affecting the local population, which is in urgent need of improved medical infrastructure.
The Civil Society appealed to the Jammu & Kashmir administration to intervene at the earliest and resume the pending construction work at the GMC Chogal site. They emphasized that the timely completion of the project is essential for strengthening healthcare services in Handwara and its adjoining areas.
The members further cautioned that if the work is not resumed within the next 10 days, they, along with various associations of Handwara, will intensify protests across the town.
