Srinagar: In a bid to promote sports and community engagement, Handwara Police inaugurated a T20 knockout cricket tournament at Bakiahaker Cricket Ground under the Civic Action Programme 2024-25.
The event was inaugurated by the wife of Martyr Constable Mohammad Rafiq Bhat, alongside Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Handwara, Mushtaq Ahmad Chowdhary (JKPS), Deputy Superintendent of Police (Dy. SP) DAR, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Handwara, and other senior officers.
Addressing the players, SSP Handwara underscored the commitment of the Jammu and Kashmir Police to fostering sports culture among the youth. He emphasized that such initiatives help channel young energy positively, instil a competitive spirit, and promote physical well-being, steering individuals away from negative influences.
SSP Chowdhary further assured continued support for similar sports events in the future, reinforcing the police department’s dedication to youth development and community welfare.
The tournament is expected to witness enthusiastic participation from local teams, providing a platform for young cricketers to showcase their talent.
