Srinagar: Authorities on Saturday sealed ten medical setups in Handwara of Kupwara district for the want of proper registration.
Speaking to reporters, Zeeshan Ahmad Khan, Tehsildar Handwara, said that the action was initiated upon receipt of complaints from people over the last several days.
“Taking action to ascertain the corroboration of complaints on ground, we conducted a surprise action alongside a medical team, during which at least ten medical setups including pharmaceutical shops, clinics and labs were found running without ‘proper’ registration and several others under unhygienic conditions and all those medical setups were subsequently sealed by the visiting team”, Khan said.
Among the sealed setups included a 24×7 fair price medical shop, which was found working in under highly unhygienic conditions, Khan said adding, “To fill the void of the round-the-clock working pharmaceutical shop, the other normally working shops have been asked to work in alternate shifts for the convenience of the public”.
“We will continue with such inspections in future as well to ensure better medical facilities for the people of Handwara”, Khan added.
