Goa: Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant expressed his happiness on the election of Ganesh Gaonkar as the new Speaker of the Goa Legislative Assembly, noting the significance of his background. “I am happy that an MLA from the Bharatiya Janata Party and a common citizen from the ST community has become the Speaker of the Goa Legislative Assembly,” Sawant said, emphasizing both representation and inclusivity.
The Chief Minister also highlighted the government’s focus on urban development, stating that Goa is taking steps to become slum-free. “In the recent cabinet meeting, the government took an important decision to study the slums across the state and take the right steps based on that study,” he added.
