However, within hours of their theatrical debut, these movies fell victim to piracy, with copies of the films surfacing on various torrent sites, allowing users to download or stream them for free.
The piracy debacle has dealt a significant blow to the filmmakers and distributors, potentially impacting the box office earnings of the affected movies. Despite stringent measures to prevent piracy, including legal action against perpetrators, the leak has raised concerns about the vulnerability of the entertainment industry to online piracy.
Torrent sites such as Filmyzilla, Filmywap, MovieRulz, mp4moviez, 123 movies, and Tamilrockers are among the platforms where the leaked copies of “Operation Valentine”, “Laapataa Ladies”, “Dange”, and “Kaagaz 2” have been made available. The accessibility of pirated versions online not only undermines the revenue generated by legitimate screenings but also undermines the hard work and creativity of filmmakers.
It is worth noting that this incident is not an isolated one, as several recent films, including “Article 370”, “Crakk”, “Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya”, “Eagle”, “Fighter”, “Guntur Kaaram”, “Hanuman”, “Captain Miller”, “Ayalaan”, and others, have also fallen prey to online piracy shortly after their release.
