Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde officially tendered his resignation on Tuesday morning, marking a significant shift in the state’s political landscape. Accompanied by his deputies, Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar, Shinde arrived at Raj Bhavan, the official residence of Governor CP Radhakrishnan, to submit his resignation.
Governor Radhakrishnan accepted Shinde’s resignation and requested him to continue as the caretaker Chief Minister until a new government is formed. Shinde immediately assumed his duties as caretaker CM.
Addressing the media, Shiv Sena leader Deepak Kesarkar confirmed the development, stating, “The CM (Eknath Shinde) has submitted his resignation to the Governor. The Governor has asked him to take charge as caretaker CM, and he has assumed his duties from today.”
The resignation sets the stage for the next phase of government formation in Maharashtra, with political dynamics expected to evolve rapidly in the coming days.
