Delhi Assembly Elections 2025: 8.10% Voter Turnout by 9:30 AM Amid Tight Security

Delhi recorded a voter turnout of 8.10% as of 9:30 AM on Wednesday as polling continues across all 70 Assembly constituencies.

Among key constituencies, New Delhi saw a 7% voter turnout, Jangpura recorded 7.5%, and Kalkaji stood at 6.2% by 9 AM. Okhla registered 7.90%, Seelampur 11.02%, Matia Mahal 6.49%, Ballimaran 6.97%, Mustafabad 12.43%, Babarpur 9.36%, and Chandni Chowk saw 4.53% voting.

District-wise turnout recorded by 9:30 AM:

  • Central Delhi: 6.67%
  • East Delhi: 8.21%
  • New Delhi: 6.51%
  • North Delhi: 7.12%
  • North East Delhi: 10.7%
  • North West Delhi: 7.66%
  • Shahdara: 8.92%
  • South Delhi: 8.43%
  • South East Delhi: 8.36%
  • South West Delhi: 9.34%
  • West Delhi: 6.76%

Polling, which started at 7 AM, will continue until 6 PM. Security has been intensified, with nearly 3,000 polling booths marked as sensitive. Authorities have deployed 220 paramilitary force companies, 35,626 Delhi Police personnel, and 19,000 Home Guards. Drone surveillance and Quick Reaction Teams have also been put in place.

The elections will determine whether the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) retains its stronghold, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) makes a comeback, or the Congress revives its presence. The results will be declared on February 8.

Campaigning ended on Monday at 6 PM after an intense political battle. In the 2020 elections, AAP secured 62 out of 70 seats, BJP won eight, while Congress failed to win a single seat.
