Bengaluru: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar has appealed to employers across the state to support workers from Bihar by allowing them to travel home and exercise their voting rights during the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections scheduled for November 6 and 11.

In a statement released by his office on Tuesday, Shivakumar highlighted that a large number of migrant workers from Bihar are currently employed in Bengaluru and other districts of Karnataka. He urged companies and business owners to extend at least three days of paid leave to these workers to facilitate their participation in the electoral process.

“I request all companies, commercial establishments, hotels, contractors, builders, shop owners and other industrial operators to provide at least three days of paid leave to voters from Bihar so that they may cast their votes in the Bihar Assembly elections, and to cooperate in enabling their full participation in the democratic process,” Shivakumar said in his appeal.
