Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has said that the younger generation should now take on more responsibilities, amid speculation about a possible reshuffle of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Cabinet.
Speaking at an event in Nagpur, Gadkari said his involvement in public work has reduced compared with earlier years and that he is no longer able to work as much as he once did.
“These days, I can’t do as much work. I did it when I could. Now, my involvement has diminished. Work should be handed over to the new generation. A new generation has come, and the older generation is guiding them,” Gadkari said.
Gadkari Says He Has Spent 30 Years In Public Life
Gadkari said he has been active in public life for around three decades and has experienced several highs and lows during his career.
“I have been continuously working in public life for the last 30 years. I have seen many ups and downs and received many awards. But I can’t work much now, the new generation should be given a chance to work,” he said.
Despite speaking about handing over responsibilities to younger leaders, Gadkari also outlined his vision for development work in Maharashtra.
Gadkari Talks About Development Plans
The Union Minister said development activities in the state would expand in the coming years.
He said one of the goals was to ensure that every tribal village in Maharashtra gets access to electricity. Gadkari also stressed the need to make development more visible across the state.
His comments come at a time when there is growing discussion about changes within the BJP and the Union government.
BJP’s New Team Fuels Cabinet Reshuffle Speculation
The BJP recently announced a major change to its national organisation under party president Nitin Nabin. The new 65-member team includes 51 new faces, indicating a strong focus on younger leaders and a generational change within the party.
The new national team includes 13 vice presidents, among them former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje Scindia and former RSS functionary Ram Madhav.
Former Union minister Smriti Irani has also been appointed as one of the BJP’s eight national general secretaries.
The organisational changes have added to speculation that Prime Minister Narendra Modi could also make changes to his Union Cabinet.
However, Gadkari’s remarks did not directly confirm that he would leave the Cabinet or that a reshuffle was imminent.
