Tamil Nadu Assembly Passes Resolution Seeking Permanent TET Exemption For Senior Teachers

The Tamil Nadu Assembly has passed a resolution seeking permanent exemption from the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) for teachers appointed before August 23, 2010.

The resolution urges the Central Government to amend Section 23 of the Right to Education Act, 2009, to protect the jobs, service benefits and promotion opportunities of senior teachers nearing retirement.

The Assembly has also asked the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) to issue clear guidelines to ensure that the affected teachers continue to receive their service benefits without disruption.
