Gunbattle Erupts in J&K’s Kishtwar as Security Forces Engage Terrorists in Chhatru

Jammu: An encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists in the Chhatru area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district on Wednesday, November 5. Acting on credible intelligence inputs about the presence of militants, a joint team of the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police launched a coordinated operation in the region.

According to officials, the area was swiftly cordoned off to prevent the terrorists from escaping. The gunfight began when the militants opened fire on the search team, prompting security personnel to retaliate strongly.

The Indian Army’s White Knight Corps confirmed the operation through an official post on X, stating, “#WhiteKnightCorps | Contact with Terrorists | Op Chhatru In an intelligence based operation, in concert with @JmuKmrPolice, in early morning hours today, alert troops of #WhiteKnightCorps have established contact with terrorists in the general area of Chhatru. Fire exchanged with terrorists. Operation is in progress.”

As per initial reports, three to four terrorists are believed to be hiding in the area. The operation remains underway, with reinforcements deployed to ensure the complete neutralisation of the threat. Security forces have tightened the cordon to prevent any infiltration or escape attempt.
