Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday praised the Union Budget 2026–27, describing it as a forward-looking financial roadmap that links development with employment across multiple sectors. She said the Budget reflects a long-term vision aligned with the goals of building a developed India and a progressive Delhi.

Speaking on the Budget’s impact, Gupta said it brings together crucial areas such as healthcare, tourism, education and job creation under a unified development framework. According to her, the Centre and the Delhi government are working in close coordination to achieve the broader vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, with the national Budget acting as a key driver for the capital’s growth.

Highlighting women-focused initiatives, the Chief Minister welcomed the proposal to set up girls’ hostels in every district. She said the move would help improve access to education and create safer pathways for women to enter the workforce, especially those coming from economically weaker backgrounds.

Gupta also pointed out that Delhi has received budgetary support exceeding ₹1,300 crore, which she said would be used to strengthen public services and infrastructure in the city. In addition, she noted that allocations under centrally sponsored schemes for Delhi, Puducherry and Jammu & Kashmir have been significantly enhanced, offering greater financial backing for development programmes.

The Chief Minister expressed appreciation for the increased funding for law and order, noting that the Union Home Ministry has raised the budget for Delhi Police. She said the enhanced allocation would improve security preparedness and strengthen policing infrastructure in the national capital.
