“India Needs More Like Him”: Rahul Gandhi Hails Uttarakhand’s Deepak

Delhi: Senior Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, has publicly praised a young man from Uttarakhand named Deepak, calling him a symbol of courage and constitutional values at a time of growing social tension. Gandhi described Deepak as a true patriot who chose humanity and the Constitution over fear, even when faced with intimidation.

In a post shared on social media, Gandhi said Deepak’s actions reflect moral strength in an environment increasingly driven by hostility. Referring to him as a beacon of love in divisive times, Gandhi remarked that such individuals unsettle those who thrive on anger and polarization. “When hate becomes loud, compassion becomes revolutionary,” he wrote, underscoring why voices like Deepak’s matter.

The Congress leader accused the ruling BJP and its ideological affiliates of systematically undermining constitutional principles. He alleged that divisions are being deepened deliberately to maintain political control through fear, rather than consensus and justice. Gandhi further claimed that state authorities in Uttarakhand were turning a blind eye to harassment faced by ordinary citizens who resist such pressure.

According to Gandhi, economic distress and social fragmentation are being allowed to grow side by side, creating an atmosphere where intimidation replaces dialogue. He warned that no nation can achieve real progress if its people live under constant fear. “Development without harmony is hollow,” he stated, adding that peace is the foundation of any meaningful growth.

Gandhi also extended open support to Deepak, urging him not to feel isolated. Calling him fearless and resolute, he said individuals who stand firmly with constitutional values represent the real strength of India. “Stand tall, do not bend, and do not be afraid,” he wrote while sharing Deepak’s photograph online.

The remarks came amid reports that Deepak was targeted after intervening to protect an elderly Muslim shopkeeper who was allegedly being threatened by a group. Days later, a large crowd reportedly gathered in Kotdwar, raising slogans against Deepak, further escalating tensions in the area.
