“We Want Justice, Not Hatred”: Navy officer Vinay Narwal’s widow appeals after Pahalgam terror attack

On what would have been Indian Navy Lieutenant Vinay Narwal’s 27th birthday, his wife, Himanshi Narwal, made an emotional plea to the nation — urging unity, peace, and justice without hate. Lieutenant Narwal was among the 26 people brutally killed by terrorists at Baisaran near Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam on April 22.

Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Himanshi, a PhD scholar from Gurugram, said, “I just want the entire nation to pray for him, that wherever he is, he remains healthy and happy.” Her words were filled with grief, but also a strong message of harmony.

Addressing the growing communal tensions in the aftermath of the attack, she firmly stated, “We don’t want people going against Muslims or Kashmiris. We want peace and only peace. Of course, we want justice.” Her message struck a chord with many, resonating far beyond the town of Karnal in Haryana, where a blood donation camp was held in Vinay Narwal’s memory.

The camp, organized by the National Integrated Forum of Artists and Activists, saw participation from locals and well-wishers who came together to honour the young officer’s sacrifice. As tributes poured in, Himanshi and Narwal’s mother broke down in tears, surrounded by people saluting the bravery of the fallen Navy officer.

Speakers at the event remembered Vinay Narwal as a dedicated officer who lived with purpose and served the nation with pride. “He will continue to live in everyone’s hearts forever,” said one speaker, reflecting the sentiment shared by many in the gathering.
