Union MoS Pratap Raj Jadhav Flags Rising Child Deaths from Cough Syrup: Immediate Ban and Probe Ordered

Mumbai: Alarmed by a surge in child deaths linked to contaminated cough syrups, Union Minister of State Pratap Raj Jadhav has called for urgent action to prevent further tragedies.

Speaking on the issue, Jadhav said, “Several children have tragically lost their lives due to the consumption of contaminated cough syrup, with most incidents reported from Madhya Pradesh. Following these incidents, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya immediately held a meeting with the Health Secretaries and Ministers of all states, issuing strict directives to impose an immediate ban on the sale of the suspected cough syrups, halt their distribution, and conduct a thorough investigation into the matter.”

The Union Health Ministry has directed all states to take immediate measures to ensure the safety of children and prevent any further casualties. The meeting emphasized swift action, including seizure of suspect products, tracing supply chains, and initiating legal proceedings against violators.
