Srinagar: Three days of non-stop fun and frolic from December 31 2021 came to an end on January 1, 2022. A total of eight teams participated in the Magam Football League (MFL) 2021-22 which was conducted on a knockout basis. The tournament gave opportunity to many hidden talents who got an opportunity to compete with one of the best teams of Kupwara district.
The final match was held between Amigos FC Handwara and Magam UFC. The match was tied 3-3 after the culmination of two extra halves of 15 mins each, where Zubair Lone from Magam UFC scored three goals. In the end team Magam UFC won the match by scoring 5-3 in penalty shootout.
The winner trophy was bagged by Arbaz Lone, Captain of Magam UFC and the runner up trophy by Adil Mushtaq, captain of Amigos FC Handwara. The highest goal scorer and best player of the tournament was Adil Mushtaq from Amigos FC Handwara who scored six goals in the tournament.
The occasion was graced by Asha Begum, BDC Magam as the Chief Guest. She not only watched the final match but also cheered and encouraged all players during the match. Along with Asha Begum, Ashiq Hussain, Nambardar Magam gave away the trophies and certificates to the winners and runners up. The event was brought to a close by inspiring speeches by Ashiq Hussain.
