Two local LeT militants killed in Baramulla gunfight: ADGP Kashmir

Both dead terrorists are from Shopian, AK-47 Rifle and Pistol recovered from their person.

Srinagar: Two militants of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) outfit were killed in an encounter with the security forces at Kreeri area of Pattan in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Thursday.

Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Kashmir, Vijay Kumar informed newspersons that the two LeT militants were killed in a predawn gunfight at Kreeri.

Both have been identified as Shakir Majid Najar and Hanan Ahmad Seh from Shopian district. Both joined the banned militancy group last month. Further investigation is going on, the top cop said.

One AK-47 Rifle and a pistol were recovered from their person.

Earlier reports reaching here stated that a joint team of the local police and the Indian Army had launched a nocturnal cordon and search operation in Kreeri.

As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off a gunfight in the process.
