Cairo: US President Donald Trump made several headline-grabbing remarks at the Egypt-hosted Peace Summit on Gaza, highlighting the need for regional harmony and commending Pakistan’s military leadership.
During his address, Trump praised Pakistan’s Army Chief Asif Munir as his “favourite Field Marshal from Pakistan,” a comment that quickly caught the attention of global diplomats. Turning to Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who was standing behind him, Trump emphasized optimism for South Asia, stating, “I think Pakistan and India are going to live very nicely together.”
The US President also invited PM Shehbaz Sharif to address the summit, underlining Pakistan’s potential role in stabilizing the Middle East and contributing to peace efforts in the region.
Representing India at the summit was Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh, who met with President Trump as a special envoy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Their discussions reportedly focused on India’s support for humanitarian aid and peace initiatives in Gaza.
Adding to the event’s memorable moments, a video clip circulated online showing Trump shaking hands with the UAE representative, remarking, “A lot of cash. Unlimited cash.” The comment has gone viral, sparking a mix of reactions on social media.
Hosted by Egypt, the Peace Summit on Gaza brings together global and regional leaders to discuss ceasefire measures, humanitarian aid, and long-term frameworks for peace in the ongoing Israel-Gaza conflict.
