Mumbai Simplifies Document Registration: Area Restrictions Abolished to Make Property and Business Registrations Faster and Easier

Mumbai: In a major step to make document registration faster and easier in Mumbai, Maharashtra Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule has announced the removal of area restrictions for stamp office registrations.

The government has formalized the change through an official gazette notification, allowing residents, business owners, and companies to register documents at any of the six designated stamp offices in Mumbai, regardless of where their property or office is located.

Earlier, people could only register documents at the stamp office corresponding to the location of their property or business, causing delays and inconvenience. Now, the six offices—Borivali, Kurla, Andheri, Mumbai city, and two offices near the Old Custom House—will handle registrations for property agreements, rent agreements, inheritance papers, and other important documents.
