Patna: In a scathing attack on Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav dismissed the JD(U) chief as a “khataara gaadi” (rickety old car) and claimed that it was he who twice saved Nitish from political irrelevance. Tejashwi’s remarks come in response to Nitish Kumar’s claim that he was the one who elevated RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav in politics.
“Nitish Kumar said in the Assembly that he made Lalu Yadav the chief minister. He has helped many people… but he should talk about himself. It was me who saved him twice by helping him retain the Chief Minister’s post. Otherwise, his party would have been wiped out,” Tejashwi told reporters.
Addressing an RJD event later, Tejashwi doubled down on his attack, declaring that Bihar no longer needed an “inefficient government.”
“The retirement age is 60. Do you want a 75-year-old CM? It’s time for Bihar to move forward with a new vehicle, not a khataara gaadi,” he said, signaling that the upcoming Bihar elections in November could be a turning point.
Taking another dig at Nitish, Tejashwi labeled him a “tired and retired” leader who was no longer fit to govern. He claimed that the Chief Minister was so disconnected from his administration that he couldn’t even remember the names of his two Deputy CMs.
“Our government will come in 2025. We don’t want a retired and tired Chief Minister. Ask Nitish Kumar to name his ministers—he won’t be able to do it,” Tejashwi asserted.
