Mumbai: Unseeded Gowtham K Hari of Mumbai Suburbs produced a spirited comeback performance to enter the Boys Under-19 singles round of 32 in the Yonex Sunrise State U-19 Badminton Selection Tournament, organised by the Greater Mumbai Badminton Association (GMBA), promoted by Badminton Gurukul and hosted by Willingdon SC.
After losing the opening game against Pune’s Atharva Goswami, Gowtham bounced back strongly to register a 10-15, 15-9, 15-8 victory and continue his impressive run in the tournament.
Top seed Arjun Aluguvelli of Mumbai Suburbs advanced comfortably with a straight-game 15-7, 15-9 win over Akola’s Adarsh Panjwani, while Nagpur’s Pranay Gadewar defeated Raigad’s Mukesh Yadavar 15-9, 15-5.
In the Girls Under-19 category, seeded players continued their dominant run. Raigad’s Prakriti Sharma and Pune’s Navya Ranka moved into the round of 32 with convincing victories in straight games.
The tournament has witnessed strong participation from leading junior badminton players across Maharashtra and continues to showcase emerging talent in the state circuit.
