Samarth Singh Appears in Jabalpur Court After Days on the Run
After remaining untraceable for nearly 10 days following the death of Twisha Sharma, her husband Samarth Singh was taken into police custody on Friday after reaching a district court in Jabalpur to surrender. The case has drawn massive public attention and intensified demands for a high-level investigation.
Samarth’s appearance before the court came after his lawyers informed the Madhya Pradesh High Court that he was willing to surrender if his bail plea could be heard immediately by the local court. His legal team also indicated that the anticipatory bail plea filed earlier would be withdrawn once the surrender process moved ahead.
High Court Orders Second Post-Mortem by AIIMS Delhi Team
In a major development, the Madhya Pradesh High Court ordered a second post-mortem examination of Twisha Sharma’s body. The fresh autopsy will now be conducted by a team of doctors from AIIMS Delhi, who will travel to Bhopal for the procedure.
The court further directed that the entire process be videographed to maintain transparency. During the hearing, Samarth Singh’s counsel stated that he had no objection to the second post-mortem.
The bench clarified that ordering another autopsy should not be viewed as questioning the earlier medical report or the doctors who conducted the first examination.
Family Continues to Raise Questions Over Twisha’s Death
Twisha Sharma’s family has consistently alleged that she was pushed into distress by her in-laws and claimed the circumstances surrounding her death were suspicious. They have been demanding a detailed and independent probe into the case.
Meanwhile, Twisha’s mother-in-law Giribala Singh, a retired district and sessions judge currently serving as chairperson of the Bhopal Consumer Court, denied all allegations levelled against the family. She claimed Twisha was struggling with drug addiction and rejected accusations of harassment.
Giribala Singh had earlier secured anticipatory bail after being named in the FIR.
MP Government Recommends CBI Investigation
With the case gaining national attention and public pressure mounting, the Madhya Pradesh government has recommended a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into Twisha Sharma’s death.
The recommendation has been welcomed by Twisha’s relatives, who said they are prepared to approach every institution necessary to ensure justice for their daughter.
