Administration makes Control Room operational 24×7. DC directs officers, field functionaries to play proactive role in resolving public grievances

Srinagar: About 50 percent of roads which were covered with snow, which are under priority-1 and priority-2 are now being thrown open for traffic in Kupwara district since Friday morning. This information was given to Deputy Commissioner Kupwara by Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE), Mechanical, Kupwara. It was further informed that as many as 17 snow clearance machines have been pressed into service on different roads of the district.
The DC was informed that snow has been cleared from all major roads and traffic is plying normally on Kupwara-Handwara; Kupwara-Sopore; Kupwara-Chowkibal; Kupwara-Lolab; Kupwara-Kalaroos; Kupwara-Villgam; Handwara-Zachaldara; Handwara-Langate; Kupwara-Hyhama and other such routes.
The AEE, Mechanical informed that 17 machines are available with the Mechanical department which include 15 snow clearance machines, 1 dozer and 1 backhoe loader (JCB).
Meanwhile, traffic movement on the border roads of Karnah, Keran and Machil has already been restricted to prevent any untoward incident due to snowfall.
The Deputy Commissioner directed all officers and field functionaries to play a proactive role in resolving public issues. Various departments have already set control rooms for quick and timely response to the public grievances.
