Mumbai: In a shocking incident that occurred on the night of January 15-16, Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was stabbed multiple times by an intruder inside his upscale Bandra apartment in Mumbai. The intruder, who entered the actor’s residence through a fire escape staircase, is believed to have had burglary as the motive behind the attack.
Mumbai Police have identified the accused, and authorities are working tirelessly to apprehend him. Speaking to the media, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Zone 9, Dixit Gedam, revealed that the initial investigation pointed to a burglary attempt. “It has been discovered that the accused used the fire escape to enter the house. We are making every effort to arrest him as soon as possible. Once he is arrested, we will disclose further details,” Gedam said.
Khan, along with his wife Kareena Kapoor and their two children, Taimur and Jeh, resides on the 12th floor of the ‘Satguru Sharan’ building. Fortunately, the actor is reported to be out of danger after undergoing surgery for serious injuries. Dr. Nitin Dange, a neurosurgeon at Lilavati Hospital, stated that Khan had sustained a major injury to his thoracic spine but was stable following surgery. “The knife was removed and the leaking spinal fluid was repaired. Khan is in recovery mode and will be moved out of the ICU tomorrow morning,” Dr. Dange confirmed.
According to hospital officials, Khan was brought to Lilavati Hospital around 3:30 am with six injuries, two of which were deeper, including one near his spine. The medical team, led by Dr. Dange and cosmetic surgeon Leena Jain, worked quickly to treat the actor.
CCTV footage revealed that no one was seen outside the apartment two hours prior to the attack. It is reported that the assailant was heading towards the room of Khan’s younger son, Jeh, when the maid’s screams alerted the family. Saif rushed to the scene and engaged in a scuffle with the intruder.
The accused, who managed to flee the scene, is still at large, and police teams are working in full force to apprehend him. DCP Gedam mentioned that there are currently 10 detection teams investigating the case from various angles.
