Mumbai: Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was discharged from Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai on Tuesday, five days after being attacked at his Bandra residence. The actor, who underwent a major surgery on January 16 following the attack, was accompanied by wife Kareena Kapoor Khan as he returned home in the afternoon, according to an NDTV report.
Saif was reportedly attacked with a knife and sustained six injuries, two of which were severe. One of the wounds was dangerously close to his spinal cord, causing leakage of spinal fluid. The doctors at Lilavati Hospital also surgically removed a 2.5-inch broken knife fragment from his back. Saif has been advised complete bed rest for his recovery.
The attack occurred in the early hours of January 16 when Saif’s attacker, identified as Mohammed Shehzad, entered his home with the intent to rob. When Saif attempted to prevent the robbery, Shehzad stabbed him, leaving him injured. Police arrested Shehzad, a Bangladeshi national, from a labor camp in Thane on Sunday. It was revealed that Shehzad had been living in Mumbai illegally for several months and was also a national-level wrestling champion in Bangladesh.
