Delhi: With Republic Day approaching, security agencies across the country have escalated preparedness levels, issuing a fresh high-alert advisory for border and sensitive regions. The directive calls for intensified vigilance, particularly in areas that have previously witnessed suspicious activity, as authorities work to neutralize potential threats ahead of national celebrations.

According to security officials, special emphasis has been placed on monitoring drone movements along India’s international borders. Intelligence inputs suggest that hostile elements may attempt to use unmanned aerial vehicles to transport weapons, explosives, or other prohibited materials into Indian territory. Border zones in Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, and Rajasthan have been identified as key focus areas due to past incidents involving unexplained aerial sightings.

In response to the alert, security forces have been instructed to operate in full readiness mode. Aerial reconnaissance has been increased, while ground patrols and checkpoint security have been reinforced. Agencies have been asked to ensure round-the-clock surveillance so that any unusual movement is detected and addressed immediately, particularly in the lead-up to the Republic Day parade.

Meanwhile, in the national capital, Delhi Police are set to introduce advanced technology as part of enhanced crowd management and threat detection efforts. For the first time, police personnel will use AI-powered smart glasses during Republic Day security operations. These wearable devices come equipped with facial recognition systems and thermal imaging capabilities, allowing officers to identify suspects swiftly even in densely packed areas.

Officials confirmed that the smart glasses are connected in real time to police databases containing records of criminals, proclaimed offenders, and individuals under suspicion. Linked to mobile devices carried by officers, the system provides instant alerts based on facial scans. A visual indicator helps personnel differentiate between individuals with clean records and those flagged in the database, enabling rapid verification and immediate action if required.

Senior police officers stated that the introduction of this technology marks a significant step toward modern, tech-driven policing. Authorities believe that combining traditional security arrangements with artificial intelligence will significantly strengthen safety measures during large public gatherings.
