Recovery of huge cache of ammunition at Haphruda forest

Srinagar: In a joint operation, the Indian Army along with Jammu and Kashmir Police (J&KP) Handwara, based on reliable input, carried out a specific jungle search in Haphruda forest in North Kupwara district early Thursday morning.

The search resulted in the recovery of a huge cache of ammunition, that is 720 rounds of 7.62 mm (most likely of Chinese origin), 05 rounds of RPGs, 09 booster tubes of RPG and 10 x UBGL Grenades (most likely of Russian origin).

The ammunition was concealed in two locs in the jungle area with adequate packaging. In-fact few of the ammunition has been found in sealed packages.

A thorough jungle search was launched by Haphruda COB and J&KP Handwara personnel in the general area of Haphruda forest for any more caches of arms/ammunition or for any hideout.
