Mumbai: Union Minister Ramdas Athawale has launched a sharp attack on Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, accusing them of disrespecting Hindu sentiments by skipping the ongoing Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj. He urged Hindu voters to reject them for their absence from the significant religious event.
Athawale, a prominent Dalit leader from Maharashtra and a key BJP ally, questioned Thackeray’s commitment to Hindutva, stating that his absence from the Kumbh contradicts his pro-Hindu stance. “Thackeray talks about Hindutva, but he did not participate in the Maha Kumbh. If he truly stands for Hindu interests, why didn’t he attend?” Athawale said.
The Union Minister of State for Social Justice further criticized both Thackeray and Gandhi for failing to acknowledge the religious and cultural significance of the Kumbh Mela. He stated that leaders who ignore such crucial events should be held accountable by voters.
“Hindu voters have already taught them a lesson in the Maharashtra assembly elections of November 2024. Their absence from Kumbh shows their disregard for Hindu beliefs,” Athawale remarked.
