Mohali: The Punjabi entertainment world is in mourning following the death of veteran comedian and actor Jaswinder Bhalla, who passed away on Friday morning at Fortis Hospital, Mohali. He was 65.
Bhalla had been unwell for a period, and the exact cause of his death has not been officially confirmed. His last rites are scheduled for August 23 at 12 pm at the Balongi Crematorium in Mohali, where fans, colleagues, and members of the film fraternity are expected to gather and pay their respects.
Renowned for his distinctive comic style and unforgettable characters, Bhalla played a pivotal role in shaping Punjabi cinema’s comedic landscape. His performances blended witty dialogue, impeccable timing, and a simple charm that endeared him to audiences across generations.
Over his illustrious career, Bhalla featured in numerous hit films, including Gaddi Chaldi Hai Chalangaa Maarke, Golak Bugni Bank Te Batua, Mel Karade Rabba, Jatt & Juliet, Carry On Jatta, Jind Jaan, and Band Baaje. His contributions helped elevate Punjabi comedy, making him one of the most respected and beloved figures in the industry.
