Fresh Security Breach at Parliament: Man Climbs Wall, Held

New Delhi: India’s most secure government complex — the new Parliament building — witnessed yet another alarming security breach on Friday morning, exposing glaring loopholes in the country’s highest-level security apparatus.

Around 6:30 am, an unidentified man reportedly climbed a tree near Rail Bhawan, used it to scale the Parliament boundary wall, and managed to reach the Garuda Dwar (Garuda Gate) before being intercepted. Parliament security staff acted swiftly to detain him, but the incident has sent shockwaves through security and political circles. The man is now in custody, where agencies are questioning him about his identity, motive, and how he managed to bypass multiple layers of protection.

The timing of the breach is equally troubling. It came just a day after the monsoon session concluded, a session that saw frequent disruptions and limited productivity. Officials say the suspect was unarmed, but the fact that he slipped into one of the most heavily guarded zones of the country has left many stunned.

This is not the first such lapse. Last year, another youth climbed the Parliament wall and entered the Annexe building premises. Earlier in 2023, the nation was jolted when two intruders stormed the Lok Sabha chamber itself, jumping from the visitors’ gallery, releasing yellow smoke, and shouting slogans before being overpowered by MPs and security staff.

With three breaches in less than two years, the incident has reignited serious concerns about the effectiveness of surveillance, response systems, and coordination among agencies responsible for protecting the seat of Indian democracy. A high-level investigation has been ordered, with CCTV footage under review and accountability of lapses being fixed.

  1. Excellent read, I just passed this onto a colleague who was doing some research on that. And he just bought me lunch because I found it for him smile Thus let me rephrase that: Thank you for lunch!
