Renowned political strategist-turned-activist Prashant Kishor has strongly criticized the timing of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, lambasting his advisors for what he perceives as a strategic misstep.

In an interview with India Today, Kishor expressed surprise at Gandhi’s decision to embark on the yatra months ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. He emphasized that the timing seemed ill-suited, questioning the wisdom of leaving headquarters for a yatra at this crucial juncture.

According to Kishor, the yatra should have been conducted much earlier, possibly six months to a year before the elections. He underscored the importance of focusing efforts on meeting strategic allies, raising resources, finalizing candidates, and addressing daily challenges.

The ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’, spanning 6,713 km across 15 states, commenced in Manipur on January 14 and is slated to culminate in Mumbai on March 20. However, Kishor highlighted the critical timing, especially amidst recent political developments such as the loss of a key ally in Bihar.

In a separate interview with Indian Express, Kishor reiterated his skepticism, stating that deserting the headquarters for a yatra in the Northeast at this juncture is not a wise move. He expressed bewilderment at the decision-making process behind such strategic moves.

Meanwhile, Prashant Kishor is leading a pad yatra across Bihar under the banner of ‘Jan Suraaj’ and is expected to announce its transformation into a political party, marking a significant development in the state’s political landscape.
