Opposition Demonstration Inside Monsoon Session
Mumbai witnessed heightened political tension on Tuesday as the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) staged a protest on the steps of the Vidhan Bhavan during the ongoing Monsoon Session, intensifying the political fallout linked to allegations surrounding the Ram Mandir donation funds.
The protest saw opposition leaders raising slogans and displaying banners accusing the ruling Mahayuti government of irregularities related to temple donations.
Allegations Trigger Political Flashpoint
The demonstration comes in the backdrop of a First Information Report (FIR) filed by the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, following allegations of embezzlement and misuse of donations linked to the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. The FIR was registered after a preliminary report submitted by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to the Uttar Pradesh government reportedly flagged irregularities.
The case has further escalated political friction between ruling and opposition parties, with both sides exchanging sharp accusations.
Protest Slogans and Accusations
During the protest, MVA members were seen holding placards with strong political messaging, alleging misuse of public devotion and temple contributions. In visuals circulated by IANS, protesters were heard claiming that funds donated by devotees were being mismanaged, further intensifying the controversy.
The opposition alleged that the issue reflects deeper administrative failures and demanded accountability from the state government.
FIR Names Eight Accused in Donation Case
According to reports, a complaint filed by trust member Krishna Mohan—based on the SIT’s preliminary findings—led to an FIR naming eight individuals. However, the FIR reportedly does not include the name of trust general secretary Champat Rai, though his close associate Ramshankar Yadav, also known as Tinnu Yadav, has been named among the accused.
The case has been registered under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including provisions related to criminal breach and financial irregularities.
Wider Opposition Mobilisation
The Ram Mandir donation controversy has now become a wider political issue in Maharashtra’s legislative session, with opposition parties using the platform to question governance and transparency.
This protest follows another demonstration a day earlier by Samajwadi Party MLA Abu Azmi, who had raised concerns over an alleged Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) paper leak. Opposition leaders have increasingly accused the ruling side of administrative lapses across multiple issues.
Escalating Political Confrontation
With back-to-back protests inside the state legislature, the Monsoon Session has turned into a battleground over governance, accountability, and alleged corruption. The Ram Mandir donation case is now emerging as a key political flashpoint, with both ruling and opposition camps preparing for further confrontation in the coming days.
