Adampur : A day after addressing the nation on the success of Operation Sindoor, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a surprise early morning visit to the Adampur Air Force Station in Punjab on Tuesday. During his visit, PM Modi interacted with Indian Air Force (IAF) personnel and was briefed on the current security scenario in the aftermath of the recent India-Pakistan conflict.

Taking to social media platform X, the Prime Minister shared his thoughts, stating, “Earlier this morning, I went to AFS Adampur and met our brave air warriors and soldiers. It was a very special experience to be with those who epitomise courage, determination and fearlessness.” Expressing his gratitude, he added, “India is eternally grateful to our armed forces for everything they do for our nation.”

The Adampur air base was one of the key targets during Pakistan’s attempted retaliatory strikes in response to India’s precision operations under Operation Sindoor. Pakistani forces had launched coordinated missile and drone attacks between the night of May 9 and 10, targeting multiple Indian defence locations, including Adampur.

Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, speaking at a recent press briefing, revealed that over 26 harassment attacks and air intrusion attempts were carried out across India’s western border, stretching from Srinagar to Naliya in Gujarat. She noted that the Indian armed forces effectively neutralised the majority of threats, though limited damage was sustained at stations in Udhampur, Pathankot, Adampur, and Bhuj.

In his first public address since the launch of Operation Sindoor, PM Modi had praised the collective resolve and bravery of India’s defence and intelligence agencies, saying, “I salute the valiant forces of India, the armed forces, our intelligence agencies, and our scientists.” He added that Operation Sindoor has “set up a new parameter and new normal” in the nation’s fight against terrorism.

The operation was carried out in retaliation to the brutal April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed the lives of 26 people. Indian forces launched precise strikes on terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, reaffirming India’s zero-tolerance approach to terrorism. PM Modi emphasised that terrorists must now understand the heavy price of attempting to harm India, saying that every act of aggression would be met with a swift and strong response.
