New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the United States on February 12-13 for an official working trip, where he will meet US President Donald Trump, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri announced on Friday. This will be Modi’s first visit to the US after Trump’s second-term inauguration and makes him one of the first world leaders to visit Washington following the swearing-in.

The visit was confirmed just days after a White House official revealed that President Trump had invited Modi for high-level discussions. Late last month, Trump stated, “I had a long talk with him this morning, and he’s going to be coming to the White House in the next month, probably in February.”

Ahead of the visit, Modi and Trump spoke over the phone on January 27, where they discussed global peace, security, and strengthening bilateral ties in key sectors such as trade, technology, and defense. Modi later emphasized their commitment to a “mutually beneficial and trusted partnership” aimed at ensuring prosperity and security for both nations.
