New Delhi: The Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) of the Delhi government has issued a notice to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal, summoning him for questioning over his allegation that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) tried to bribe AAP candidates. Calling the accusation “extremely serious,” the ACB has asked the former Delhi Chief Minister to “make himself available” for an inquiry.
What the ACB Notice Says
The ACB is investigating Kejriwal’s claim that BJP leaders allegedly offered ₹15 crore and ministerial positions to 16 AAP MLA candidates. In its notice, the agency has posed five key questions to the AAP supremo:
- Was the tweet regarding the bribery allegation posted by you?
- Do you stand by your claim that 16 AAP candidates received offers?
- Who are the 16 candidates allegedly approached for defection?
- Who contacted these MLAs, and what were the phone numbers used?
- Do you have any evidence to support these allegations?
The ACB’s investigation was initiated after Delhi Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena took note of the claims and directed officials to act.
Kejriwal’s Explosive Allegation
After exit polls projected a BJP victory in Delhi, Kejriwal alleged that AAP candidates were being lured to switch sides. He posted on X (formerly Twitter):
“Some agencies are showing that the abusive party (BJP) is getting more than 55 seats. In the last two hours, 16 of our candidates have received calls that if they leave AAP and join their party, they will be made ministers and given ₹15 crore each.”
Tensions Escalate as ACB Reaches Kejriwal’s House
An ACB team visited Kejriwal’s residence for questioning, but the situation turned tense as AAP leaders allegedly blocked officials from meeting him, accusing them of acting at the BJP’s behest.
With the ACB pressing for answers and Kejriwal standing by his claims, the controversy has sparked a major political showdown ahead of the Delhi election results.
