PM Modi Targets ‘One-Family Politics’ in UP, Says “BJP Broke the Old System” While Honouring Atal Vajpayee, Ambedkar and Netaji

Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday launched a sharp political attack on dynastic politics while highlighting what he described as the BJP’s efforts to restore dignity to national icons who were earlier sidelined. Speaking at a public programme in Uttar Pradesh, the Prime Minister said that after Independence, a deliberate attempt was made to link every major achievement of the country to a single political family.

“After independence, a tendency emerged to connect all good work to one family. Books, government schemes, institutions, roads, streets and squares were all linked to the pride of one family,” Modi said. He asserted that the BJP had freed the country from this mindset. “Our government, serving Mother India, gives respect to every child and every contribution,” he added.

Citing examples, Modi said national heroes were systematically ignored in the past. “Today, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose’s statue stands proudly on Kartavya Path in Delhi,” he said, adding that the legacy of Dr B R Ambedkar was once deliberately weakened. “The royal family of Congress committed this sin in Delhi, and in Uttar Pradesh the Samajwadi Party did the same. But the BJP did not let Baba Saheb’s legacy be destroyed,” Modi said.

He highlighted the development of Ambedkar’s ‘Panch Teerth’ as a symbol of renewed respect. “From Delhi to London, Baba Ambedkar’s Panch Teerth is celebrating his legacy today,” the Prime Minister said.

In the same address, Modi also credited former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee for laying the foundation of India’s digital and telecom revolution. “Today there is a lot of discussion about digital identity. The foundation for this was laid by Atal Ji’s government,” he said, referring to the early work that later evolved into Aadhaar.

He further said, “The telecom policy formulated during Atal Ji’s time made it easier to bring phones and the internet to every household.” Highlighting present-day achievements, Modi said, “In the last 11 years, India has become the second-largest mobile phone manufacturer in the world, and Uttar Pradesh has emerged as India’s number one mobile manufacturing state.”
