Delhi: The Delhi Police have filed an FIR against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders Saurabh Bhardwaj, Sanjeev Jha, and Adil Ahmed Khan over allegations of hurting religious sentiments through content shared on social media.

According to police, the case stems from videos posted on December 17 and 18, 2025, on the leaders’ official social media handles. The videos reportedly show a political street performance conducted at Connaught Place, which has now triggered controversy and legal action.

The complaint alleges that individuals dressed as Santa Claus—considered a significant religious and cultural symbol for the Christian community—were depicted in a disrespectful and demeaning manner during the skit. In the visuals, the performers are seen collapsing and fainting on the road, allegedly being used as props to convey political messages.

Complainants have argued that portraying a revered religious icon in such a way amounts to mockery and deliberate insensitivity, thereby offending religious beliefs. Based on these allegations, the police registered the FIR under relevant sections related to promoting enmity and hurting religious sentiments.

Delhi Police officials said the matter is under investigation and that the authenticity, intent, and context of the videos are being examined. Further legal action will be decided after a detailed probe and review of digital evidence.
