Handwara: To ensure fair pricing and strict compliance with market regulations during the holy month of Ramadan, a market checking drive was conducted in the Magam area of Handwara on the directions of Javed Naseem Masoodi, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Handwara.
The drive was led by Naib Tehsildar Magam, G.M. Dar, along with officials from the Revenue Department and the Police Department. During the inspection, several shops and business establishments were checked to verify rate lists, the quality of essential commodities, hygiene standards, and overall adherence to government guidelines.
The team instructed shopkeepers to prominently display updated rate lists and strictly follow the prescribed prices. They were warned against overcharging, hoarding, and selling substandard goods.
Officials cautioned that strict action would be taken under relevant laws against violators.
The administration reiterated its commitment to protecting consumer interests and maintaining market discipline. Similar drives will continue in the coming days to ensure transparency and fair trade practices across the area.
