Actor Manoj Bajpayee has clarified that he has no political affiliations after a fake video linking him to the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) went viral on social media ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections.

Taking to his official X account on Thursday, Bajpayee stated that the video was an edited version of an advertisement he had done for an OTT platform. “I would like to publicly state that I have no association or allegiance with any political party. The video being circulated is a fake, patched-up edit of an ad I did for @PrimeVideoIN,” he wrote.

The actor appealed to netizens to stop sharing misleading content. “I sincerely appeal to everyone sharing it to stop spreading such distorted content and urge people not to engage with or encourage such misleading content,” Bajpayee added. The manipulated video has since been removed from social media platforms.

Bajpayee, originally from Bihar, moved to Delhi at the age of 17 before pursuing a career in films. This is not the first time celebrities have faced misuse of their images, with stars like Hrithik Roshan, Karan Johar, Suniel Shetty, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, and Akshay Kumar taking legal action to protect their reputations.

On the professional front, Bajpayee was last seen in the OTT film Inspector Zende, and his upcoming project includes Police Station Mein Bhoot.

With the Bihar elections approaching, political activity is intensifying across the state. Voting will take place in two phases on November 6 and 11, with results announced on November 14. The last date for filing nominations for the first phase is October 17, and for the second phase, October 20.
