Mahesh Babu Faces Legal Heat Over Real Estate Endorsement, Summoned in Money Laundering Case

Hyderabad: Popular Telugu actor Mahesh Babu has landed in legal trouble after the Ranga Reddy District Consumer Commission in Telangana issued notices to him over a real estate fraud complaint. The actor, known for his recent film Guntur Kaaram, has been named as the third respondent in a case involving alleged misleading endorsements.

The complaint was filed by a Hyderabad-based doctor who claims she was cheated of ₹34.8 lakh by a real estate firm that Mahesh Babu had endorsed. According to the complaint, the plots she paid for never existed, and the firm used the actor’s star power to gain the trust of buyers.

The consumer forum’s notice comes on the heels of another controversy earlier this year. In April, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had reportedly summoned Mahesh Babu for questioning in connection with a money laundering probe linked to two Hyderabad-based real estate companies—Sai Surya Developers and the Surana Group. The actor was allegedly paid ₹5.9 crore as an endorsement fee by the accused firms.

While legal notices and ED scrutiny have triggered fresh headlines, Mahesh Babu and his representatives have yet to issue an official statement addressing either matter.

Meanwhile, the actor remains busy with his next big project, a highly anticipated collaboration with director SS Rajamouli. The pan-India action-adventure film, tentatively scheduled for a 2026 or 2027 release, also stars Priyanka Chopra in the lead. It will mark Chopra’s return to Indian cinema after nearly a decade, her last film being The Sky Is Pink in 2019.
