Mumbai: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Tuesday addressed pressing issues facing farmers in the state and outlined plans for upcoming local elections. Speaking to the media, Shinde said, “Farmers in Maharashtra are facing a huge crisis… This issue was discussed in the Cabinet today. Our Chief Minister will also go on the field. He will go to Solapur, I will go to Dharashiv.”

Shinde highlighted the political context of the discussions, noting, “There are elections for local self-government institutions, district councils, municipalities, and municipal corporations. This meeting was held against this backdrop… This is an election for the workers. These same workers made us win in the Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha elections… Just like we received a huge majority in the Vidhan Sabha, similarly Mahayuti will get a huge majority in these elections.”

Providing details on administrative planning, the Deputy Chief Minister added, “A district planning meeting was held today… There was considerable discussion on basic amenities. All our public representatives, MLAs, MPs, and everyone offered their suggestions, and every department took them seriously. I have informed the District Magistrate that all these suggestions must be implemented so that people receive justice… The outcome of this meeting will be very good.”
