Patna: Senior Congress leaders have begun arriving in Bihar ahead of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting scheduled for Wednesday at Patna’s Sadaqat Ashram, marking a key political gathering as the state gears up for Assembly elections expected by the end of 2025.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah landed at Patna airport on Tuesday to participate in the high-stakes meeting of the party’s top decision-making body. Congress MP Randeep Surjewala, who also reached Patna, highlighted the historic political importance of Bihar. “The land of Bihar has consistently created new history, from Champaran to the present day. The policy and ideological decisions that the CWC will take under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge will prove similarly far-reaching,” Surjewala said.

Congress leader Bhupesh Baghel referred to Rahul Gandhi’s recent remarks, saying, “Rahul Gandhi made two important remarks last month: caste census and vote theft. The atomic bomb has been detonated. Now we are waiting for the hydrogen bomb.”

Congress MP KC Venugopal has also been preparing for the meeting, which comes at a time of nationwide agitation against alleged vote tampering. A signature campaign highlighting the issue is underway across the country.

The meeting is expected to be attended by top leaders, including Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi, Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee president Rajesh Ram, Bihar in-charge Krishna Allavaru, and Congress Legislature Party leader Shakeel Ahmed Khan.

Krishna Allavaru, the party’s state in-charge, informed the media on Monday that the CWC will deliberate on multiple issues affecting Bihar, including alleged ‘vote chori’ (vote theft), rising crime, unemployment, and inflation, as the Congress aims to strengthen its position ahead of the crucial Assembly elections.
