Macron’s Hindi Message to ‘Priye Mitr Narendra’ Modi Goes Viral, Signals Strong India–France Ties

French President Emmanuel Macron ended Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to France with an unusual and warmly personal gesture that quickly caught global attention — a message partly delivered in Hindi, highlighting the growing diplomatic closeness between India and France.

As PM Modi concluded his multi-city France visit, which included engagements in Nice, Evian for the G7 Summit, and Paris, Macron addressed him in an informal and friendly tone that stood out on social media and diplomatic circles alike.

Speaking in Hindi, Macron said: “Priye mitr Narendra, mujhe bohot khushi hui aapka Nice, Evian aur Paris mein swagat karke. France aur Bharat ki dosti amar rahe.”

The message translates to: “Dear friend Narendra, I was very happy to welcome you to Nice, Evian and Paris. May the friendship between France and India remain eternal.”

Switching to English moments later, Macron added with a light-hearted remark, “I hope it was correct,” before continuing his appreciation for the Indian Prime Minister.

He further said: “My dear Narendra Modi, I wanted to thank you so much for your friendship. France loves you. I am so happy you are with so many friends in Paris before leaving and going back to Delhi.”

Strong Diplomatic Signal Behind Friendly Tone

Beyond the viral moment, the visit reinforced the India–France Special Global Strategic Partnership, which has seen increasing cooperation in technology, defence, and climate initiatives. The two leaders also participated in high-level discussions aimed at expanding bilateral collaboration.

During the final day in Paris, Modi and Macron jointly attended VivaTech 2026, one of Europe’s leading technology and startup events. India was featured as the AI Country Partner this year, with both leaders touring innovation showcases, interacting with entrepreneurs, and highlighting emerging technologies.

Macron Plans India Visit

Adding to the diplomatic momentum, Macron also indicated plans to visit India in February next year, signalling continuity in high-level engagement between the two nations.

Social Media Reaction

The Hindi message quickly went viral online, with users praising the symbolic use of language in diplomacy. One reaction noted that PM Modi’s global outreach has increased the visibility of Hindi on the world stage, while others highlighted Macron’s effort to connect personally with the Indian leader.

Some social media users also humorously commented on Macron’s pronunciation and accent, further amplifying the clip’s reach across platforms.
