Baramulla: In a heartwarming display of unity and shared spirit, the Indian Army celebrated Diwali with residents of the remote border village of Gohallan along the Line of Control (LoC) in Baramulla district on Saturday, October 19, 2025. The event reflected the enduring bond between soldiers and local communities living in the country’s frontier regions.
The celebration, marked by the lighting of diyas and the exchange of sweets, filled the serene Himalayan village with warmth and festive cheer despite its isolation. Both villagers and soldiers came together to mark the festival of lights — symbolizing hope, togetherness, and resilience amid challenging terrain.
For the villagers of Gohallan, the presence of the Indian Army during Diwali was a reassuring reminder of protection and companionship. For the soldiers, far away from their families, it offered a cherished sense of home and belonging.
The Diwali celebration at the LoC thus became more than a festival — it stood as a poignant symbol of unity, harmony, and shared cultural heritage. As diyas lit up the night sky, both soldiers and villagers illuminated the remote hamlet with the radiant spirit of Diwali — a celebration of light, hope, and solidarity that transcends all boundaries.
