Srinagar: On Thursday, Jan Shikshan Sansthan (JSS) – Kupwara and Indian Army in a joint venture inaugurated two skill centres in a remote village of Kunan Poshpora. The main objective of opening such centres is to empower the youth and provide adequate training in market relevant skills and livelihood opportunities.
General Officer in Command (GOC), Kupwara 28 Division Major General Abhijit Pendharkar while inaugurating the skill centres said that our youth can only be empowered by skill. He also said our prime responsibility is to encourage such initiatives taken by centrally sponsored scheme JSS in the district.
He also said that JSS is the only institute in Kashmir providing skills resulting in empowerment and livelihood in the district. Various training centres of different trades are functioning which is a good sign of changing Kashmir. Commanding Officer (CO) Trehgam 68 Brigade Manoj Joshi said that skilling the youth will change the society with empowerment and energy he also said that the army will be with full support for such initiatives which will result in transformation of change.
He also stressed on the establishment of a production unit in Kunan Poshpora. He also said that such training programs will be more fruitful for the youngsters in future. He also stressed on other vocational courses of health and hospitality.
Block Development Council (BDC) chairman Trehgam Mohammad Abdullah also called it an initiative of change and development. He further said that PRI institutes will provide possible and mature support to such initiatives. He thanked the Indian Army and JSS-Kupwara for such a valuable initiative. Other PRI members of Poshpora also attended the inaugural ceremony.
Hundreds of boys and girls are going to schools. Skill beneficiaries and common people, village heads were present on the occasion Director JSS-Kupwara said that the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Government of India is providing job-oriented skill courses across India with a strong mandate of empowerment and innovation. He also calls skill as the best therapy for stress reduction and empowerment. He also said that if we want to change our society and make our youth more energetic, we must work for skill empowerment and he said that in district Kupwara hundreds of youngsters became victims of drug addiction and depression the main cause of this menace is unemployment and lack of skill.
JSS-Kupwara is working with a strong mandate of skill empowerment. He also thanked the Indian Army especially GOC Kupwara, Army Commander Trehgam Manoj Joshi and energetic Army commanding officer 41Rashtriya Rifles (41RR) for their best contributions. He also said that the Indian Army is supporting us in every block and area of district Kupwara with a strong slogan of empowerment. he further said that JSS-Kupwara in collaboration with army, district administration and other organizations will establish production units for the pass out beneficiaries of training centres, he said that JSS had started innovative initiative with slogan “Say No To Drugs And Yes To Skill”
