Iran Claims Pakistan Vows Nuclear Retaliation Against Israel if Tehran is Hit; Islamabad Silent, But Backs Iran Politically

Tehran: In a stunning development amid intensifying hostilities between Iran and Israel, senior Iranian commander Mohsen Rezaei has claimed that Pakistan is prepared to launch nuclear retaliation against Israel if Tehran is targeted by nuclear weapons.

“Pakistan has told us that if Israel uses nuclear missiles, we will also attack it with nuclear weapons,” said Rezaei, a senior member of Iran’s National Security Council and an Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) general, during a televised interview on Iran’s state television — as quoted by Turkiye Today.

The startling statement has not been verified by Pakistani officials. No government spokesperson or high-ranking Pakistani authority has confirmed or commented on the claim, raising questions about its authenticity or strategic intent.

The declaration comes amid mounting tension, as Israel reportedly launched a direct assault on Iranian territory on June 13. Under what Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has termed ‘Operation Rising Lion’, strikes allegedly targeted nuclear infrastructure and killed prominent Iranian scientists and military personnel. In retaliation, Iran unleashed ‘Operation True Promise 3’, firing ballistic missiles at Israeli military installations.

Amid this volatile backdrop, Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif delivered a stern warning during a National Assembly session on June 14, urging Islamic nations to unite in the face of increasing Israeli aggression.

“Israel has targeted Iran, Yemen, and Palestine. If Muslim nations don’t unite now, each will face the same fate,” Asif cautioned. He also pushed for an emergency meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and urged countries maintaining diplomatic relations with Israel to reconsider those ties.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s alignment with Iran, Asif added, “We stand behind Iran and will support them at every international forum to protect their interest.”
