Srinagar: The final match of Inter-College Cosco Ball Boys Cricket Tournament organized by the Sports Committee, GDC Handwara was played on Tuesday between Kupwara and Handwara. The Kupwara College team beat Handwara College by a huge margin.
As per the organisers a total of 12 teams from various degree colleges participated in the tournament. The event was attended by Principal GDC Kupwara Dr Mohammad Shafi Lone, ASP Handwara Irshad Ahmad Rather and Arvinder Singh, besides other dignitaries.
The roller coaster game generated huge enthusiasm and attendance from students of the college. The team of GDC Boys Kupwara outplayed the hosts and won by 83 runs. The finalist teams were presented with trophies and participation certificates.
The Man of the Match was given to Mehnaz Ahmed of the winning team for his brilliant 52 runs. Man of the series was given to Ishfaq Ahmad, GDC Kupwara, for his consistent performance throughout the tournament. Most importantly he scored 184 runs and took 7 wickets in the tournament.
The principal of the host college, Prof. Dilruba Rasool Hamdani, expressed her gratitude to all the participant teams of the tournament and promised to organise more sports events in future, particularly for the female students of the college.
