Indian Army organises Drug Free Kupwara campaign to spread awareness amongst youth

@JournalistAadil

Srinagar: In keeping with their never-ending efforts to eradicate drug menace from society, Indian Army organised Drug Awareness Programmes in all higher secondary schools of Trehgam in Kupwara district here recently.

The programme was aimed at providing insight to the students about the seriousness of drug addiction. Due to lack of education opportunities and employment in the far-flung areas the youth of Kupwara become more vulnerable to this menace. The area is very close to the border and that’s why the availability of drugs becomes easier and thus the youth gets distracted towards this.

Hence, the locals of Trehgam volunteered to come forward and along with the Indian Army organised several lectures for the youth studying in schools.

More than 400 students including girls and boys and 70 teachers in total attended the events organised at various higher secondary schools of Trehgam.

The lectures aimed at making youth aware of the reasons that lead to the use of drugs and its bad side effects.

The Indian Army will conduct similar programs in all higher secondary schools in the area as the first phase of the Drug Free Kupwara Campaign.
